Thesis Cabin 2

The idea of the minimum is rather loaded. The task of defining the threshold below which is inadequate for living is a lively debate, and has given rise to the idea of existenzminimum:  the fundamental increment of shelter and an emblem of egalitarian architecture. Today, federal minimum standards have been established for housing design. But is this enough?

What this standard neglects to recognize as essential to a home is the idea of comfort and is seduced by a simplistic vision of who we might be rather than attending to the labyrinth reality of who we are. What I have tried to do is come up with new standards that are not about area minimums, but about the minimum requirements for a (mentally and physically) healthy and comfortable life.
